Erendira 092808

Well we got the call that the yellowfin were biting. Doug and finagled our way into a trip down to Erendira again. We fished our usual two days with a hair raising experience. The first day started out as usual and as soon as we were about 10 miles out the wind started to gain force. Once we were 25 miles out and we had the jigs going it was Victory at sea. We had an unusual condition of the northern winds hitting against warm southern winds. This condition creates some big waves in the middle of the ocean and just about turns the sea into a washing machine. Unfortunatley Doug fell victim to the seas wrath and became sick. He hung in there once saw the signs of life in the form of flying fish. I then knew we had found the right area. Sure enough a few moments after seeing the first couple of flyers we had a double jig strike. Some how some way Doug landed the first Yellow Fin Tuna and some how some way I lost the first one... After landing that one some time later we had another jig strike. Doug reluctintly fought the fish while i threw a bait in... 30 seconds later i was bit and 10 minutes later i landed my first tuna of the day. We started to troll again and when i looked back i saw my friend for the first time with his head in between his arms... It was time for us to go. On the way in, Eggy (Captain Edgar, by the way only a few of us are allowed to call him that) treated us to a special locals only spot... In a few minutes we had loaded up on some nice ling cod and red rockfish in very shallow water. Just what Doug needed to bring him back to life...
Needless to say day two of fishing consited of shallow water rockfishing within a stones throw from shore. It wasn't as an adventourous day, but fun none the less...

I love this place.
